Clos de Lambrays Grand Cru

8.67ha. Like Clos de Tart, Clos des Lambrays is another case where the vineyard and the estate are the one and the same. Clos des Lambrays is part of ancient Burgundy history. An engraved millstone commemorates the founding in 1365, and the vineyard remained intact until the French Revolution when, like so many other great vineyards, it was broken up. However, subsequent owners over the next century and a half reconstituted the original domain, now a monopole of the Domaine des Lambrays, part of the LVMH group.

The three parts of the vineyard – Les Larrets, Les Bouchots and Le Meix-Rentier – provide the elegance and finesse, the fragrance, and the backbone respectively. Wines decades old are things of beauty, while modern vintages promise even more.
