Chassagne Montrachet
Overview
Historically, the vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet were planted with Pinot Noir. Today, red Chassagne take up around 40% of the village production, but the major focus here is on world-class white wines from the Chardonnay grape. Chassagne is, with 370 hectares, one of the largest communes of the Cote d’Or; this is smaller than neighbouring Meursault, but significantly larger than Puligny-Montrachet.
