The producer
The Pieropan estate dates back to 1966, when Leonildo Pieropan, after finishing his oenology and viticulture studies, acquired vineyards in the Soave Classico area. Leonildo wanted to enhance the expression of the area’s best vineyards and thus created the Vigneto Calvarino in 1972 – Italy’s first single vineyard white wine – and late in 1978, Vigneto La Rocca. In 2008, Leonildo started converting all the estate’s farming to organics. Leonildo’s sons, Andrea and Dario, are leading the Pieropan estate today, continuing what their father started. Pieropan is consistently amongst the finest producers in the Soave area.
The wine
Pieropan Calvarino Soave Classico is a top-tier white wine from Italy's Soave region, crafted from the Garganega grape. It showcases a stunning straw-yellow color with green highlights. The complex bouquet reveals ripe citrus fruits, apple, and acacia flowers, complemented by hints of vanilla and almond. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, featuring a rich, creamy texture balanced by vibrant acidity. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant minerality. Ideal for pairing with fish, vegetables, and light pasta dishes, this wine is best enjoyed chilled.
