Founded in 1969 by Gilbert Felettig, the estate is now managed by his children, Gilbert and Christine. The domaine is known for producing elegant and expressive Pinot Noir wines that reflect the unique terroir of Chambolle-Musigny. They practice sustainable viticulture and have a deep commitment to respecting the environment and traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques. The wines from Domaine Felettig are highly regarded for their purity, finesse, and the ability to age gracefully, embodying the delicate and perfumed style typical of the Chambolle-Musigny region.

The wine

The Domaine Gilbert et Christine Felettig Vieilles Vignes Chambolle-Musigny 2016 is a distinguished Burgundy wine crafted from old vines, which typically produce lower yields of more concentrated and complex grapes. This particular vintage showcases the elegance and refinement characteristic of Chambolle-Musigny, with a deep, ruby-red color and a bouquet of red and dark berries, floral notes, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is well-structured, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and a harmonious balance of fruit, earth, and mineral elements. The 2016 vintage was marked by ideal ripening conditions, resulting in a wine with depth, richness, and a long, graceful finish. This wine is suitable for aging, allowing its flavors and complexity to evolve further over time.

We choose our wines based on a range of criteria (see how we choose our wines) of which critic scores is just one. Rather than simply highlight the best score to promote a wine, our average critic score is calculated from the scores provided by several respected wine critics, who we follow for specific regions. They do not represent all critic scores and, wherever possible, we try and give more weight to more recent reviews. Where appropriate we consider market-based scores like Global Wine Score or Wine Searcher Average scores.

As a rule, we look to offer wines that achieve a 92/100 average critic score or better and frankly a lot of very good wines simply don’t make the cut. As a high-end provider we want to reflect that positioning in the quality of wines we offer. Such wines are only a tiny fraction of those generally on offer in the market. We believe that an average score is a more conservative and representative approach, but it is still subjective and only offered as a guide to our customers, who will (and should) do their own research. We will add individual critic scores to our website in the future.
