Maipu
The small town of Maipu lie on the southern outskirts of Mendoza city and gives its name to the Mendoza sub region whose vineyard land stretches south from here. Maipu is located just to the east of the Lujan de Cuyo sub region, and vineyards are planted at altitudes stretching up to 800 meters above sea level. The soil is stony sandy alluvial, and although the region is not as highly regarded as Uco Valley and Lujan de Cuyo, it is still the source of very good Malbec.
