Il Marroneto

The Il Marroneto estate was acquired by Giuseppe Mori in 1974 as a gift for his young sons, Alessandro and Andrea. Years later, alongside a successful career in law, Alessandro started getting involved in the running of the estate and eventually left his law career to focus entirely on winemaking.  ‘Selezione Madonna delle Grazie’ is made from fruit from the single vineyard ‘Madonna delle Grazie’ which is located at 400 meters above sea level.

The vineyard takes its name from the nearby chapel which dates back to 1200 and at the time was used by nuns as storage space for the chestnut flour from which they made bread. The tower which stands next to the chapel is called “Marroneto” after the large Marroni chestnuts. The first vintage of ‘Madonna delle Grazie’ was 2000 and the wine spends 41 months ageing in 2500 litre French oak barrels. Only 5,000 bottles are produced annually.
