Heathcote

Overview

Heathcote is located in Central Victoria, between Bendigo to the west and Goulburn Valley to the east, and just 100 km north of Melbourne. Vineyards lie on the slopes of the Mount Camel and elevation varies from 160 to 380 meters above sea level. Heathcote’s warm climate is temperate by cool winds that a blowing up from the south. The soils are calcium-rich rusty red coloured gravelly loams of Cambrian origin. Its ancient Cambrian soils, known for their deep red hue and excellent water-holding capacity. These soils contribute significantly to the region's ability to produce full-flavored wines, especially Shiraz.

Shiraz is by far the leading variety here, producing intensely rich and concentrated red wines with velvety tannins deep aroma profiles.
