Geisberg Grand Cru
Geisberg is one of three Grand Cru vineyards sitting above the Ribeauville village, with Kirchberg Grand Cru the highest and most westerly, and Osterberg Grand Cru to the east. With a southern exposure, Geisberg occupies the lower section of the hill at 250-320 metres of altitude and is one of the smallest Grand Cru vineyards in Alsace, with 8.53 hectares. Planted entirely with Riesling, with some parcels over 60 years old, Geisberg’s soil is made up of marl-limestone in the bedrock, covered with sandstone with traces of gypsum. Principal producers include Trimbach, Robert Faller and Kientzler.
