Fontodi

Based in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the ‘Conca d’Oro’ valley south of the town of Panzano, Fontodi is one of the finest producers of the region’s red wines. Their Vin Santo is also truly exceptional and a real rarity with only 3,000 half bottles produced annually. Made from roughly equal parts Malvasia and Sangiovese, the grapes are naturally dried for five months, after which the pressed must is racked into chestnut barrels where fermentation, followed by ageing, takes place – a process which lasts roughly ten years.

Fontodi’s is among the top 10 most highly rated Vin Santo del Chianti Classico wines – the 2009 vintage was given a 98 point score by the Wine Advocate.
