Fattoria San Giusto a Rentennano

History dates back to medieval times, where the estate of San Giusto a Rentennano began life as a monastery. The estate came into the Martini di Cigala family through marriage in 1914 and in 1957 was inherited by Enrico Martini di Cigala who decades later in 1992 passed it on to his nine children, six of which are partners in the property today.

The estate, which is located in Gaiole, in the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico zone, is comprised of 160 ha, 31 of which are planted to vineyards – all of which are certified organic. ‘Percarlo’ is the flagship wine and made from 100% Sangiovese fruit from the estate’s best vineyards. First produced in 1983, ‘Percarlo’ spends 20-22 months ageing in French barrique, before being bottled, after which it rests for another 18 months before being released onto the market.
