Domaine Hudelot-Noellat

As is often the case with Burgundian “Two Dads” domaines, the marriage of Alain Hudelot and Odile Noellat created this domaine in 1964 from part of the expensive vineyard holdings of the Noellat family. Alain ran the domaine, building the reputation as one of the finest in Burgundy for over thirty years until gradually passing the reins to his grandson Charles van Canneyt in 2008. Attention to detail in the vineyards lifted the quality, adding an extra dimension to richness and finesse if one could imagine that possible.

The centenarian Romanee-Saint-Vivant vines were planted in 1920, while Richebourg and others progressively from 1920 through 1950 ... all old vines indeed … and these produce wines at the pinnacle of the exemplary range. The Richebourg is more powerful but refined while the Romanee-Saint-Vivant is the epitome of power combined with elegance and finesse. Hudelot-Noellat also owns 0.69ha of Clos de Vougeot making one of the best wines from this variable Grand Cru. They also have holdings in Chambolle and Nuits but a few of the Vosne Romanees and the Clos Vougeots really stand out.
