Domaine Antoine Jobard

Francois Jobard was one of Meursault’s leading lights, producing classic, tight and pure wines from exceptional vineyard holdings throughout Meursault. When his son joined him, the estate was briefly known as Francois et Antoine Jobard before changing simply to son Antoine’s name since 2008. It seems impossible that the son could make even better wines than the father so let’s perhaps say he has been blessed with some lovely vintages because these wines seem to attain even greater heights than their previous lofty quality. One subtle change is the earlier approachability of the wines but without loss of their precision and purity of flavour.

Francois adopted organic principles decades ago and the vineyards are a picture of health-giving beautiful materiel for beautiful wines.

Arguably the benchmark producer of Les Genevrieres, itself perhaps the finest non-Grand Crus … the wines speak volumes for this Jobard. Les Poruzots and Les Charmes are the other two Premier Crus as well as a piece of Blagny Premier Cru. Such is the quality of his lieu dits - En la Barre and Les Tillets - these are exceptional examples of “village” wine, premier cru in all but name. 

Antoine Jobard, Meursault-Genevrieres Meursault Premier Cru

Jobard owns 0.64 hectares of organically farmed vineyard land in the Genevrieres premier cru – a vineyard named after the juniper bushes that once grew here. Wines are barrel fermented, and ageing takes place in French oak barrels, for 18-24 months, with up to 20% new oak. Jobard’s Genevrieres is redolent of lemon scented orchard fruit, with mineral and spice complexity, creamy texture, and vibrant acidity.

Antoine Jobard, Meursault-Poruzots Meursault Premier Cru

Jobard owns 0.57 hectares of organically farmed vineyard land in the Poruzots premier cru. A slightly cooler site due to the east-northeast exposure, Poruzots is often leaner than for example Charmes and Genevrieres, with a livelier texture and finish. Wines are barrel fermented, and ageing takes place in French oak barrels, for 18-24 months, with up to 20% new oak.
