Chateau Gruaud-Larose

The modern history of Gruaud-Larose starts when the negociants Cordier, acquired the estate in the beginning of the 20^th century. In 1997, the property was then acquired by the Taillan Group, who also own Chateaux Haut-Bages-Liberal and Chasse-Spleen amongst others.

The 2^nd Growth estate has 84 hectares of vineyards, located west of Beychevelle at the highest point of elevation on the Saint-Julien plateau, and which are planted with roughly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Most of the vineyard work is done with organic farming techniques. In 2019, Gruaud Larose began converting the vineyards to biodynamics.

The Grand Vin matures in 80% new oak thus in most years, is obviously destined for long aging. A structured but balanced and refined wine, Gruaud-Larose rewards the patient.
